The CO2 fire extinguishers come in two sizes of 2kg and 5kg, both featuring CE markings and meeting BS EN3 standards. These extinguishers are mainly designed for tackling electrical fires. They operate by displacing the oxygen around the flames with carbon dioxide, effectively suffocating the fire and preventing it from continuing to burn.

Begin by holding the CO2 extinguisher upright, either in your hand or placed securely on the ground at a safe distance from the flames. First, remove the safety pin and break the tamper seal.
Next, swivel and lift the horn to direct it at the base of the fire or any electrical equipment involved. Avoid holding the horn, even frost-free horns if possible, as it becomes extremely cold.
Holding the handle in your hand, slowly squeeze to release the extinguisher's contents, aiming it across the fire. As the flames begin to diminish, you can gradually move closer.
Make sure to use the entire contents of the CO2 extinguisher to ensure the fire is completely out, and keep an eye on the area for any signs of re-ignition.
Remember, only use an extinguisher for small fires. If the fire is too large to handle, evacuate the area immediately, alert others, and call the fire and rescue service.
