Description

Utilising a water-based agent that releases as an endothermic foam, the lithium fire extinguisher effectively disrupts the thermal runaway chain reaction while cooling the batteries, absorbing much more heat than water alone. Additionally, it safeguards against secondary A-class fires, extinguishing any surrounding fires that may arise from exploding batteries.

The LFX range of extinguishers, which is part of The Green Range, is entirely free of fluorine and is specifically designed to effectively combat the distinct hazards posed by lithium-ion battery fires.

How to operate a lithium fire extinguisher

Begin by holding the lithium extinguisher upright, either in your hand or placed securely on the ground at a safe distance from the flames. First, remove the safety pin and break the tamper seal.

Next, free the hose and direct the nozzle at the base of the fire from a minimum of 1 metres distance.

Holding the handle in your hand, slowly squeeze to release the extinguisher's contents, aiming it across the fire. As the flames begin to diminish, you can gradually move closer.

Make sure to use the entire contents of the lithium extinguisher to ensure the fire is completely out, and keep an eye on the area for any signs of re-ignition.

Remember, only use an extinguisher for small fires. If the fire is too large to handle, evacuate the area immediately, alert others, and call the fire and rescue service.
